Standardized Mathematical Formula
Pitch (x/12) = (Rise ÷ Run) × 12 | Angle = arctan(Rise ÷ Run)

Roof pitch is conventionally expressed as inches of vertical rise per 12 inches of horizontal run (e.g. "6/12 pitch"). The same rise-over-run ratio also converts directly to a pitch angle via the arctangent function.
